Over the past three to four years, students and teachers have expressed their opinion, anger, and frustrations on their governments trying to privatized universities. Privatizing universities does not always have a positive effect on people but it does help the country to cut down their debt crisis like what had happened in Greece. The students and professors in Greece and Italy have demonstrated and protested on opposing the idea of privatization of universities or public education. It was the beginning of a new era in student’s movement in Europe and North America. Comparing the two movements of students and professors in Greece and Italy in explaining whether the demonstrations were successful, what were their tactics was there any†¦show more content†¦For example, in Greece, there were 21,000 applicants to study informatics in the public university system but there were only 125 available places (Psacharopoulos, 2004). Another reason why public system dominates is political votes. When political candidates campaigns around the country to gain votes, one of the way to generate more votes is to tell the people that in the name of equity higher education is free. That line generate votes for the candidate because in many people’s mindset that going to university is expensive and to have free education system it would benefit themselves, their children or even their grandchildren. Parents interest to have their children study free in a state university system. In Greece, obtaining a degree is a passport to civil service jobs but the question of quality of the degree is another question mark that needs to be answered. Greece is a small country that has 17 universities and more than 30 technological institutes are spread over a huge geographical area. In Greece, public education including preschool, elementary schools, and universities is free for everyone in any socio-economic status. There is a law implemented in the Greek Constitution stating everyone have the right for free education. Writing a Lesson Plan Anticipatory Sets

To write an effective lesson plan, you must define the anticipatory set. This is the second step of an effective  lesson plan, and you should include it after the objective and before the direct instruction. In the anticipatory set section, you outline what you will say and/or present to your students before the direct instruction of the lesson begins. The anticipatory set provides a great way for you to make sure youre prepared to introduce the material and can do so in a way that your students will relate to easily.  For example, in a lesson about the rainforest, you could ask the students to raise their hands and name plants and animals that inhabit the rainforest and then write them on the board. Purpose of Anticipatory Set The purpose of the anticipatory set is to provide continuity from previous lessons, if applicable. In the anticipatory set, the teacher alludes to familiar concepts and vocabulary as a reminder and refresher for students. In addition, the teacher tells students briefly what the lesson will be about. During the step, the teacher also: Gauges the students level of collective background knowledge of the subject to help inform instructionActivates the students existing knowledge baseWhets the classs appetite for the subject at hand The anticipatory set also allows the teacher to briefly expose students to the lessons objectives and explain how she will guide them to the end result. What to Ask Yourself In order to write your anticipatory set, consider asking yourself the following questions: How can I involve as many students as possible, piquing their interests for the subject matter to come?How should I inform my students of the lessons context and objective, in kid-friendly language?What do the students need to know before they can delve into the lesson plan itself and direct instruction? Anticipatory sets are more than just words and discussion with students. You can also engage in a brief activity or question-and-answer session to start the lesson plan in a participatory and active manner. Examples Here are a few examples of what an anticipatory set would look like in a lesson plan. These examples refer to lesson plans about animals and plants. The goal of this section of the lesson plan is to activate prior knowledge and get students thinking. Remind the children of animals and plants they have studied earlier in the year. Ask them to name a few of each and tell you a little bit about them. Ask students to raise their hands to contribute to a discussion of what they already know about plants. Write a list on the blackboard of the characteristics they name  while prompting them and offering ideas and comments as needed. Repeat the process for a discussion of the properties of animals. Point out major similarities and differences. Tell the children that it is important to learn about plants and animals because people share the Earth with animals and each depends on the other for survival. Alternatively, reread a book that you have read to the students earlier in the year. After finishing the book, ask them the same questions to get them thinking and to see what they can remember. Yet Benjamin Graham, the father of value investing recommended to his followers to stay clear of all IPOs. The reason is that the initial founders may be looking to recap on their original investment, or the company may not live up to its promises or the media hype. Literary Criticism A Rose for Emily Essay In William Faulkners A Rose for Emily, Emily becomes a minor legend during her lifetime. After her death, when her secret is revealed, hers becomes a story that no one can forget. A Rose for Emily is the story of the old maid who fell in love with a northerner, but resisted being jilted once too often. And only after her death, When the curious towns people were able to enter her house at last, did they discover that she had kept her dead lover in the bed where she had killed him after their last embrace. (Kazin 162) . In her bedroom, Emily and the dead Homer have remained together as though not even death could separate them.(Kazin 162) . Even though her lover had been dead for many years, she found her own way for them to remain together. While being isolated in her home, she becomes somewhat of a small legend in the town, after she dies, and her secret is revealed, it becomes so appalling that no one can forget. (Kazin 162) . It is the monstrousness of this view which creates the final atmosphere of horror, and the scene is intensified by the portrayal of the unchanged objects which have surrounded Homer in life. (Lewis 157).Miss Emily Grierson remains in voluntary isolation away from the bustle and dust and sunshine of the human world of normal affairs, and what in the end is found in the upstairs room gives perhaps a sense of penetrating and gruesome horror.(Brooks and Warren 158) . As revolting as it is, Emily chooses to separate her self from daily life and live in that house for years with the dead body of her lover, Homer. This story also tells a story of a woman set in her ways, for example; when townspeople come to her door every year to collect her tax, and she replies that she does not owe the city any money. A Rose for Emily would seem to be saying that man must come to terms with the past and the present. (Lewis 157) . Stories that show all too clearly how airily Faulkner can reproduce the manipulation of the readers emotions is the real aim of the commercial short story. (Kazin 162) . The total story says what has been said in so much successful literature. (Lewis 157) . Mans plight is tragic, but that there is heroism in an attempt to rise above it. (Lewis 157) . Emily Grierson for years has slept beside the physical remains of her dead lover and is sadly a victim of a father who dominated her for years, and drove away suitors. She is victimized also by a lover who would leave her, and by a passion, which would murder rather than let him go. The incestuous image of the father and daughter that suggests the corrupt nature of the new south, is a Faulknerian concern.(Pierce 1362) . When love is gone, and the lover is killed, Miss Emily clings to the illusion of love. For forty years Emily Grierson has slept beside the physical remains of her dead lover.
